McDowell County honors all of its veterans and remembers those who gave their lives for the country, naming local dead from Iraqi Freedom and Middle East conflict, World War I, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and World War II, and also recognizing McDowell County Confederate veterans of 1861 to 1865 with the closing remembrance, “Lest we forget.”
