The U.S. Navy Armed Guard is remembered for the 1,810 shipmates who did not return home and for all who provided the firepower that gave each ship involved a fighting chance to fulfill its mission. Those honored include members of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard and the U.S. Merchant Marine, and the tribute invokes those who go down to the sea in ships, do business in great waters, and see the works of the Lord and His wonders in the deep.
