Pickett Place Plantation was one of the many properties acquired by James Belton Pickett after the Caddo Indian lands were ceded to the United States around 1837. Pickett, of South Carolina, came to this area around 1836, became one of the founders of Shreveport, and owned thirteen plantations. In 1922, Lilla Cavett and Walter Lee Sibley acquired Pickett Place, which remained in the Sibley family for 83 years. In 2005, William Gordon Boogaerts acquired Pickett Place from the Sibley family.
