Old Kingston Historical Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Autauga County, established as a burial ground by at least 1841 on land officially set aside for burials when the county seat was in this area from 1834 to 1868. The area was first known as Kingston and was later renamed Old Kingston. Among those buried here is Mr. W.N. Thompson, born in Wilshire, England, in 1791 and died in 1851, who served as the first circuit clerk of Autauga County when the county seat was located in Kingston. Also buried here are Native Americans, slaves, whites, African Americans, a sheriff, teachers, and soldiers who served in the U.S. wars of 1812, the Civil War, World War I and World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. In December 2005, the Old Kingston Historical Cemetery Committee, a not-for-profit group, initiated a cemetery restoration project, and the cemetery was placed on the Alabama Historic Cemetery Register on November 12, 2008.
