Daniel Boone was a hunter, explorer, backwoodsman, soldier, surveyor, roadbuilder, legislator, and magistrate who lived and learned woodcraft in Davie County from 1750 to 1765. His parents, Squire and Sarah Boone, were pioneers of the Yadkin who came from Pennsylvania in 1749, and their remains are interred one mile northwest in Joppa Graveyard.
