In 1903 Noah Parks built this house for his family shortly after his brother George Parks constructed the General Merchandise Store. In November of 1908 Noah Parks contracted a fatal illness and died, leaving his widow Mildred and seven children behind. Their family remained in Stuart for awhile but eventually moved to Florence County, South Carolina. Mildred later sold the house to Calvin Atwood in 1916, and it remained in his family for sixty years. The City of Stuart purchased the house in 1988.
