Maryland's first commercial aviation facility opened as Dundalk Flying Field in 1919 when veteran World War I pilots formed a club, and it was later renamed to honor stunt pilot Lt. Patrick Logan, who was killed in a crash during the club's first major air meet. It became Baltimore's first municipal airport in 1920, and club members organized the nation's first National Guard air unit in 1921. Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart visited, scheduled passenger service began in 1930, and the field was replaced by Baltimore Municipal Airport/Harbor Field in 1941.
