Kaminski House was probably built between 1750 and 1800. It was originally owned by members of the Trapier and Keith families, including John Keith, who died circa 1823 and was the first intendant, or mayor, of Georgetown in 1806. The house then passed through a succession of owners from 1853 to 1931. Originally a single house with a central stairhall between two rooms, it was significantly enlarged in the 1890s by George R. Congdon, who lived from 1834 to 1909 and was also mayor in 1862, and in the 1930s and 1940s by Harold Kaminski and his wife Julia Bossard Pyatt. For many years it was the home of Harold Kaminski, who lived from 1886 to 1951 and served as Georgetown County commissioner, mayor from 1930 to 1935, and a U.S. Navy officer, and of Julia Bossard Pyatt, who died in 1972. The house and its furnishings, including antiques from the 18th to the 20th centuries, were bequeathed to the City of Georgetown by Julia Pyatt Kaminski and have been open to the public as a house museum since 1973.
