Actuated by faith in education and love for their community, the founders of Penacook Academy and its schools, together with their associates and successors, sustained and directed them through wisdom, courage, and sacrifice. The founders and first trustees were Nehemiah Butler, Isaac K. Gage, Henry H. Brown, Calvin Gage, William R. Jewett, John S. Brown, David Putnam, William H. Gage, donor of the land, William H. Allen, Ira E. Kenney, John Chandler Gage, John A. Holmes, Healy Morse, and David A. Brown. Former students expressed gratitude for their work in 1929.
