Pilgrim Predestinarian Regular Baptist Church was organized in Illinois on July 26, 1833 by Daniel Parker. Its members moved to Texas as a body, arriving on November 12, 1833. The first recorded meeting in Texas was held in Austin's Colony near the present town of Anderson in Grimes County on January 20, 1834, and the first meeting here was held in Daniel Parker's home on July 4, 1835. A log church was built here in December 1848, and the present building is the fourth on the same site. The church has worshiped continuously since 1833. Daniel Parker served as pastor from 1833 to 1844, and the Parker family graveyard adjoins the church.
