Marble Springs was the farmstead of John Sevier, Tennessee’s first governor from 1796 to 1801 and from 1803 to 1809. Sevier used the farm as a retreat where he entertained guests, and it had originally been a frontier station used by immigrants traveling on the trace from the mouth of the French Broad to the lower settlements of Nine Mile and Pistol Creeks.
