At the site of Fair Haven High School, Ralph Kehoe (1928-1989) is remembered as an athlete, war hero, coach, and teacher. He was the first four-letter athlete at UVM and entered the UVM Hall of Fame in 1973. A Korean War veteran, he received Silver and Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. From 1954 to 1958 he served as a coach and teacher at FHHS, where his 1956-1957 teams won state and MVL championships in football, basketball, and baseball. In 1956-1957, his teams posted 41 wins and 3 losses, and 50 percent of the team competed in state championships. State championship teams were fielded in baseball in 1955, football in 1955 and 1956, basketball in 1957, and baseball in 1957 and 1958. His football, basketball, and baseball teams won 139 games and lost 31, while baseball teams won 58 and lost 5. Eight players were on the 1956 MVL team.
