The building that now serves as Andalusia City Hall originally opened in 1914 as the Three Notch School, the oldest existing school building in Andalusia. The property had been acquired in 1902 from Mrs. Malachi Riley, and the school was built by Andalusia Manufacturing Company at a cost of $100,000, with C. Frank Galliher as architect, Luther E. Brown as school superintendent, and Abner R. Powell Sr. as mayor. Its auditorium became the center of Andalusia's cultural and civic activities, and the stately building served Andalusia children as a school for 85 years. In 2002, during the first administration of Mayor Earl V. Johnson, a restoration project began to convert the building into Andalusia City Hall, with McKee and Associates of Montgomery as architects and Zedot Construction of Wetumpka as contractor. The renovation was completed in 2004 at a cost of $3.5 million, and that same year the building was officially dedicated as Andalusia City Hall, where city government offices, meetings, and special events now occupy a setting that blends modern civic functions with original historic details.
