Shearer’s Covered Bridge, a historic covered bridge over Big Chiques Creek in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, was built in 1847 by Jacob Clare and rebuilt in 1855. After serving at its original site until 1971, it was moved to Manheim Memorial Park, helping preserve this 19th-century structure. The single-span wooden bridge uses double Burr arch trusses, a classic Pennsylvania design. Though modest in size, it stands out as the county’s only covered bridge painted entirely red inside and out, including its approaches, one of only three with horizontal side boards, and the only one closed to motor vehicles. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
