Founded in 1997 in Georgetown, Texas, the Williamson Museum preserves and presents the culture and heritage of Williamson County. It operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in the former Farmers State Bank building at 716 South Austin Avenue on the town’s historic square. Housed in a reused bank building, the museum is closely connected to downtown Georgetown’s historic character while keeping its attention on the local story of Williamson County and the people who shaped the county’s history.
