Built about 1875 as a Grange Hall, this building became the first federal court north of Seattle, the district court for Whatcom County, and the first courthouse for Skagit County. Later it served at various times as a schoolhouse, a church, a lodge room, and a community center. It was restored and returned to community use by the Civic Improvement Club of La Conner.
