The people of Thom's Run honored the local men who answered the country's call in World War I during 1917-1919, including dozens of named servicemen and two who served in the Navy, and they especially remembered Walter McCartney, Teofill Schrupski, Samuel Solts, and Joseph Wichosky, who gave their lives to the cause.
