Samara, also known as the John E. Christian House in West Lafayette, Indiana, is a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Usonian home built in 1955 and 1956 for John and Kay Christian, who worked closely with Wright for six years. Named for the winged seed, its chevron-like leaf motif appeared throughout the design, which was planned for both family life and large gatherings. Wright shaped not only the house but also its furniture, linens, and landscaping, while the Christians largely followed his vision, apart from a brighter interior color palette. Preserved by the family until 2015, it remains an unusually intact example of Wright’s domestic design and was designated a National Historic Landmark that year.
