Trinity on the Pike was consecrated by Bishop Whittingham on March 26, 1857, as a chapel of ease for Christ Church, Queen Caroline Parish. The Protestant Episcopal Convention approved its separation from Christ Church in 1866, and Trinity Parish was admitted by the Convention two years later. A bell tower was added in 1867. The original frame building faced the road and was modified by a stone extension in 1890. The rectory was rebuilt in 1873 after a fire.
