History

The post office at this site was established on May 27, 1891, and discontinued on July 31, 1902. The first postmaster, Thomas M. Wadsworth, had established his homestead here with letters patent signed by President Benjamin Harrison on May 21, 1890. A far-sighted and courageous pioneer, faithful churchman, surveyor, and builder, he led the movement to establish the post office here, housing it in his home, a log house built by the labor of his own hands. He served as postmaster from May 27, 1891, until his death on November 23, 1897.
