Glencoe Museum is a Victorian house in west downtown Radford, Virginia, built in the 1870s in the Second Empire style as the home of Confederate brigadier general Gabriel C. Wharton. A large two-story, five-bay brick dwelling, it once stood on extensive grounds and remained in the Wharton family until 1996. After about 30 years of abandonment, it was given to the city of Radford and became a local history museum. Its exhibits include Victorian rooms and material on Radford’s past, from Native American artifacts and early settlement to Mary Draper Ingles, transportation, education, local sports, and contemporary Appalachian art. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
