Noyes Mountain in western Maine, near South Paris, is named for George Lorenzo Noyes, who built and operated the nearby Harvard Quarry, linking the mountain to the region’s quarrying past. It lies within the Little Androscoggin River watershed, with its drainage ultimately flowing to the Androscoggin River and Merrymeeting Bay in the Kennebec estuary. The mountain’s east and south slopes drain toward Pennesseewassee Lake, its northeast side feeds Niles Brook, and its west side drains through Mud Pond and Hicks Pond before also reaching Niles Brook. The surrounding area connects the mountain to outdoor recreation and local history, including canoeing, Snow Falls Gorge, Paris Hill Village, a rock store, and a museum.
