Newaygo State Park is a 400-acre public recreation area in western Michigan overlooking Hardy Dam Pond, a six-mile-long impoundment of the Muskegon River. Set on 20-foot embankments above the water in Big Prairie Township, it offers broad views and easy access to the reservoir below. The park was established in 1966 through a state lease of land from Consumers Power Company, including 4,500 feet of water frontage. Its elevated campsites, picnic areas, boat launch, and playground support swimming, boating, fishing, and camping, with anglers drawn to bass, walleye, and panfish and campers using its 99 rustic sites.
