Royal Spring Park in Georgetown, Kentucky, centers on a spring that has supplied water since the earliest settlement era and helped shape the community's growth. Discovered by surveyor John Floyd in 1774 and later associated with John McClelland's cabin and nearby fort, the site was important on the frontier before becoming integral to Georgetown's public water system. In 1789 Elijah Craig established a grain mill there and used the spring water to distill whiskey, linking the place to bourbon lore, though that claim is disputed. The park also includes the restored 1874 Milton Leach cabin and reflects local African American history, settlement, and civic development.
