Nubble Light House was erected in 1879 by the United States Light House Service to protect mariners from the "Savage Rock." Sohier Park includes the four-acre site that William Davies Sohier, 1858-1938, generously donated to the York Beach Village Corporation in 1929 for use as a public park.
