The site of the original Sandy school is at the flagpole, where the first building was built in 1908. The current school building was erected in 1951, followed by a major addition in 1972. After a fire in 2004, the school underwent a complete renovation in 2005. In 2006, an automobile accident caused extensive damage to the rock masonry at the flagpole monument, which was later restored in honor of the veteran's memorial of 1953 and re-dedicated in May 2009.
