The Buel Institute was a pioneer farmers association of Illinois, organized in 1846 with membership drawn from Putnam, LaSalle, Bureau, Marshall, Livingston, and Peoria counties, and for half a century its activities exerted an important influence on the affairs of the state and the nation.
