Around circa 1950, four trains a day rumbled into town on the Northwestern Pacific line. Train No. 3 came from Eureka headed for the Tiburon yards, and as the engineer pulled the cord of his steam whistle, a little girl waved back. For many people on the Tiburon Peninsula, scenes like this became cherished memories, including recollections of children running down to the road to wave to the trains when they were not in school.
