R. A. Stranahan Arboretum in Toledo, Ohio, is a 47-acre botanical garden that combines curated collections with natural landscapes. Its roughly 1,500 cultivated mature trees include species from China, Serbia, Japan, and Norway as well as North American trees such as bristlecone pine and buckeye. Rolling lawns, ponds, wetlands, woods, and a restored prairie place the collection within a broader ecological setting. Set in the Oak Openings sand dune region, the site includes older oak woodland undisturbed for more than 150 years, where ancient dune forms remain visible, and a newer red maple forest. Donated to the University of Toledo in 1964, it serves as both memorial landscape and living tree collection.
