Akron Fossils & Science Center in Copley Township, west of Akron, Ohio, opened on May 26, 2005, founded by former middle-school science teacher and financial planner William Sanderson II. The small museum and learning center brings together science activities, guided tours, camps, classes, live animal shows, fossil programs, and outdoor recreation including a playground and zip-line. Its Creation Education Museum presents creationism and intelligent design alongside science and the Bible, with exhibits on subjects from abiogenesis and the Ice Age to Noah's flood and the Grand Canyon. The center has expanded over time and has drawn controversy, with critics in the scientific community calling its creationist content pseudoscience.
