Gallo Peak is a mountain in the Manzano Mountains of central New Mexico, in Torrance County within Cibola National Forest. About 5 miles west of the town of Manzano, it is ranked as the state’s 222nd highest peak. The mountain is reached by Red Canyon Road and then the Canyon and Crest trails. Set in the Manzano range east of the Rio Grande Valley, it is part of the forested high country and is known today mainly as a backcountry destination within the national forest.
