Crossroads Fire Tower in Ashley County, Arkansas, was built by the Aermotor Company and installed in 1935 by a Civilian Conservation Corps crew. Originally 100 feet tall, it gained another 20 feet between 1936 and 1943, becoming the tallest tower of its type in Arkansas. The galvanized steel structure has wooden stair treads and landings and a viewing cabin with adjustable glass panes. Located north of Crossett and west of Hamburg, it is significant for both its distinctive construction and its role in the region’s history of forest fire detection, earning listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
