Located on a French colonial land grant to Jean-Baptiste Baudreau dit Graveline, this Greek Revival house was built about 1845 by prominent planter, merchant, politician, and Graveline descendant Col. Alfred E. Lewis, who was also a delegate to the Mississippi Secession Convention. Acquired in 1905 by the Grinstead family, it later became the home of Agnes “Sissie” Grinstead and her artist husband Walter Inglis Anderson in the 1940s, when he produced some of his most significant work while living at Oldfields.
