Piney Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church is considered the first Cumberland Presbyterian church in Kentucky. It was organized in 1812 by Rev. Finis Ewing, a founder of the Cumberland Presbyterian denomination. Its first structure was made of logs and served as both a place of worship and a public school. A second building was erected in 1843, and a third structure was built in 1867 from bricks made on the grounds. The present building was constructed in 1957. On this site, great church camp meetings were held from 1812 to 1955. The church became famous for two open-air tabernacles near Saline Trail, historically known as Flynns Ferry Road, one of the oldest roads in western Kentucky. The grounds reflect a continuous Cumberland Presbyterian "Whosoever Will Gospel" ministry since 1812.
