The David Bradley windmill was sold by Sears and Roebuck Co. through its mail-order catalog based in Chicago, Illinois. It was identical to the Monitor W series manufactured by Baker Manufacturing in Evansville, Wisconsin, with the only difference being the name. On this David Bradley, the vane is vertical instead of horizontal in an attempt to make it more streamlined, a unique feature that allows it to be dated to the 1940s or 50s. Its red and white paint scheme reflects traditional colors used on many windmills, and these mills were sold from 1933 to the 1960s.
