Henry County Courthouse is the third courthouse on this square. The first was built in 1823 and burned in 1823. The second was built in 1831 and was replaced by the present building in 1897. The present courthouse was designed by architects Golucke and Stewart and was restored in 1981 through the efforts of local citizens led by Henry County Landmarks, founded by Mrs. Kit Welch and Mrs. Jo Childers.
