The first Minnesota congregation of the Evangelical Association of North America was organized here on March 2, 1857, by the Reverend Andrew Tarnutzer. The first camp meeting of the Evangelical Association in Minnesota was held here from July 1 to 6, 1857. The first small frame building was replaced in 1875 by a church measuring 20 by 32 feet and having a spire reaching upward 30 feet. The last annual meeting recorded in the book of minutes is dated January 8, 1910. After its closing, ownership continued as a historical site under The Evangelical Church, formed in 1922, then The Evangelical United Brethren Church, formed in 1946, and finally The United Methodist Church, formed in 1968.
