Copper Mountain is an 8,312-foot peak in Wyoming’s Bridger Mountains north of Shoshoni, overlooking Boysen Reservoir and spanning Fremont and Hot Springs counties. Part of a wildlife study area managed by the Bureau of Land Management, it has a rocky landscape with sparse limber pine and juniper and is used for hiking, hunting, and climbing. Its geology exposes ancient Wyoming Craton rocks and lithium-bearing pegmatite with several identified minerals. Mining has included uranium and iron, with the Arrowhead Mine producing about 500,000 pounds of uranium in the 1960s and 1970s. The mountain also serves as a major regional broadcasting and communications site.
