Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area is a two thousand six hundred-acre riverfront park in Meade County, Kentucky, near Muldraugh, Fort Knox, and Louisville. Set in Kentucky’s limestone-rich Pennyrile region, it features bluffs along Otter Creek and the Ohio River and includes Morgan’s Cave, long associated by tradition with Morgan’s Raiders during the Civil War and now protected for its bat habitat. The U.S. government gave the land to Louisville in nineteen forty-seven, and the city operated it for decades. After financial losses forced its closure in two thousand nine, state management led to its reopening on May eleven, two thousand eleven as an outdoor recreation area with trails, fishing, hunting, camping, and other amenities.
