This millstone came from the Houston Mill, built in 1873 and owned by Maj. W.J. Houston after its purchase from Dr. Chapmon Powell. The millstone was removed in 1974, and the mill site was destroyed in 1983. Donated by Joseph Augustine Sams Bond, it was moved to the Old Courthouse Grounds in October 2001 by Fred Turner and A. S. Turner & Sons.
