Fryingpan Canyon is a natural valley in the Cookes Range of southwestern New Mexico, in Luna County. It begins on the east slope of Rattlesnake Ridge near the ridge’s eastern end at about 5,560 feet and descends to its mouth at roughly 4,715 feet, where it meets Starvation Draw. Rather than a settled place, it is identified as a geographic landform within the rugged terrain of the Cookes Range. Its mapped source at 32°28′50″N, 107°41′28″W fixes its location within that landscape.
