The top of this totem tells of a young boy who saves an eagle from a fishing net and later, after becoming thief of his tribe during a famine, encounters the eagle again. The eagle brings the hungry chief a salmon, then larger game such as seal and porpoise, and eventually a whale, expressing the lesson that one good turn deserves another. Below is the tale of a group of young people who wreck a beaver family's dam as a joke, after which the beavers build a larger dam that floods half of the neighboring village. Later, one of the young men sees a beaver emerge from the lake and slap his tail on the water, and he comes to realize that all creatures should be treated with respect. The totem pole was hand-carved by Tsimshian artisan David Boxley.
