Illini State Park
Nature
Illini State Park is a 510-acre Illinois state park on the Illinois River in LaSalle County. It joined the state park system in 1934 and was formally dedicated in 1935. The park also figured briefly in Illinois budget politics when budget cuts under Governor Rod Blagojevich led to its planned indefinite closure in late 2008. It closed from November 2008 until February 2009, then reopened after Blagojevich’s impeachment, when Governor Pat Quinn restored the closed state parks to use.
