Miner’s Delight retains the mystery and charm of an old west ghost town, where weathered brown log buildings and beaver ponds create a striking scene. The buildings remain standing after many decades because the Bureau of Land Management carefully maintains and stabilizes them in their current state. This approach preserves them as historic parts of an old ghost mining town while keeping its atmosphere intact. Three common ways of preserving historic buildings are reconstruction, rehabilitation, and stabilization. Reconstruction creates replicas of buildings that no longer exist, rehabilitation adapts historic buildings for modern use while keeping most of their original features, and at Miner’s Delight stabilization is used to keep the buildings standing while preserving the town’s historic character.
