Built in 1905-1906 as part of the Mukilteo Light Station and designed by Carl W. Leick, this house was first occupied by the family of the first Assistant Lighthouse Keeper, David O. Kinyon. The original light station stood on a spit of land between Possession Sound and a tidal lagoon that extended back to the railroad. Its buildings included a windmill that provided fresh water, a coal and oil shed that stored fuel for the compressor, the lamp, and the houses, the Assistant Keeper's house, the lighthouse, and the Keeper's house. A garage was added in 1928. The foghorn behind the enclosure near the water is fully automated; when its sensor detects fog within one-half mile of the light station, the horn sounds for three seconds and then is silent for twenty-seven seconds.
