Hogback Mountain
Nature
Hogback Mountain, also known as Hogsback Mountain, is a large hill northeast of Klamath Falls in southern Oregon. Its name comes from its appearance from Klamath Falls, where the ridge was seen as resembling a pig’s shoulders. Although most of the mountain is privately owned, it is open to hikers under conditions shaped by its use as a working landscape. Visitors may not tamper with fences or use all-terrain vehicles because of livestock operations, and hunting or firearms are forbidden without written permission. For safety, public access has also been closed during open deer rifle season because of hunting by landowners and their guests.
