History
2
Looking west on Main Street in an early twentieth century photograph, this street included several buildings still recognizable today. The first building on the right was then a hardware store, and other small shops, including a jewelry store, also stood here. In 1870, Metamora Hall was built as a meeting hall on the site where the funeral home is located today. On the left side of the street stood the Shannon mansion, though it is not visible in the image; it was torn down and replaced by the Schuylkill Haven Trust Company in 1956, which no longer exists.
