Marion Wesley "Baldy" Crowell was born in DeSoto, served with distinction in Company C, 111th Engineers, A.E.F., during World War I, moved to Louise in 1933, and married Jessie Thomas in 1936. He was twice commander of Craig-Harriss Post, American Legion, the first president of the Louise Chamber of Commerce, and a leader in religious, civic, and political affairs. A tribute by Senator Culp Krueger praised him as a country boy with a gentle air who always had time for others, served his community and fellow man, and worked in harmony with God's plan.
