McGees Mills Covered Bridge near Mahaffey, Pennsylvania, spans the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and stands as an important example of local transportation and engineering history. Built in 1873, the wooden covered bridge uses a Burr truss design and measures 109 feet long. As one of the older surviving river crossings of its kind in the area, it reflects the region’s nineteenth-century bridge building traditions. Its historical significance was formally recognized when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
