Caesar Creek State Park in southwestern Ohio centers on Caesar Creek Lake, a reservoir created by a federal flood-control project authorized in 1938 and built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The dam, completed in 1978, manages runoff and helps reduce downstream flooding by lowering lake levels before spring rains. The project also submerged the farming village of New Burlington, leaving a history of displacement beneath the park’s recreational landscape. Today the area combines environmental management, local memory, and outdoor activity, with trails, a preserved pioneer village, a nature center, fossil collecting, and lakeside facilities for paddlers.
